Hints for successful water testing:

  • When using the regent test kit, always take the water samples 30-45cm (12"-18") below the water surface.

  • Do not dispose of test samples in the spa water.

  • When adding drops of chemicals from the kit (the reagents) into the test block, hold the bottle vertically and add the drops slowly to be sure the correct quantity is used.

  • The reagents should be replaced on a yearly basis to maintain the accuracy of the test result.

When adding chemicals to the spa always pre-mix chemicals in a bucket of spa water and then add to the spa once it is completely dissolved.

Sanitizer is extremely important for killing algae, bacteria, viruses and preventing unwanted organisms from growing in the spa.  At the same time, you don't want high  sanitizer levels as the can irritate your skin, lungs and eyes not to mention its damaging to the acrylic and equipment.

Always maintain the sanitizer level in your spa at the recommended level for each type of sanitizer.

Always test in the following order:

  1. Alkalinity

  2. Salt

  3. pH

  4. Sanitizer
